PERMEABLE PAVEMENT

Unlike traditional pavement, permeable pavement has tiny holes throughout and special types of soil and gravel underneath. This allows the ground to absorb stormwater. Soaking more stormwater into the ground helps improve water quality and reduce flooding. Many traditional pavement types, like asphalt, concrete, and pavers, have permeable versions. Pavers with gaps or grass are also permeable. Permeable pavement can be used for many surfaces including roads, sidewalks, driveways, patios, plazas, parking lots, and walking and bike paths.
