BIORETENTION

Bioretention facilities are engineered and landscaped basins for capturing and cleaning stormwater. They use an engineered soil mix and plants to clean polluted stormwater from roads, roofs, and parking.

Bioretention can be used on private or public land. Bioretention can be integrated into the public right-of-way to provide habitat, beautify streets, and serve as a buffer between the sidewalk and street to create a safe and welcoming place for people to walk.
